There was little activity on the lake at Montour Preserve yesterday, except for a couple of Great Blue Herons and this little Green Heron. To my amazement, he let me drift quite close in my kayak where I was able to take over a hundred shots of him attempting to catch his breakfast. When he thrust his bill in the water, I had been ready to click, but the lightning fast in and out of the water took me by surprise and I missed the shot. What happened afterwards was downright funny. He shook himself, looked rather miffed, and then resumed his stalking of prey. If at first you don’t succeed…
