Sunning himself at the far end of the lake

Yesterday was a gorgeous morning for a kayak ride at Lake Chillisquaque.  After not seeing the Bald Eagles for a couple of weeks, I was excited to see one of the adults perched on its favorite dead tree near the Goose Cove bird blind.  I had the lake to myself, and didn’t want to scare the eagle off, so I zig-zagged over towards him, keeping the sun at my back.  Success!  He let me get fairly close before taking off across the lake towards his nesting tree.
